If you’ve ever had to apply a screen protector on your own, you know exactly what we’re talking about.
In theory, a screen protector is a great idea. It protects your iPad screen from scratches and scuffs. It might even change the way you use your iPad. For example, matte screen protectors are popular with note-takers and digital artists because they make writing and drawing on the iPad feel more realistic.
But actually getting a screen protector on your screen? That’s another story.
You carefully line it up, trying to avoid bubbles, dust, and misalignment. You smooth it out, thinking it’s perfect ... until you notice an air pocket that won’t budge or a tiny speck of dust trapped underneath.
If you’re lucky, you might be able to fix problems when things go wrong. Maybe you could push the air pockets out with a credit card,or pull the screen protector up slightly and try to remove the dust.
If not, you’re either stuck with an imperfection or throwing the whole thing away and starting over.
And, considering how much some screen protectors can cost, a failed application can be an expensive mistake.
